BA Business Administration
INTRODUCTION
The whole duration of the program is 3 years and the students are aworded a Macedonian Accredited Bechelor Degree in Business Administration after compliting 180 ECTS.
COURSE STRUCTURE AND CONTENT
First Year
- Business Environment
- This module covers issues that refer to the interaction between the organizations and the environment they interact with, with a special accent on the regional and EU environment. This module also assists the students in the understanding of the context in which the organizations function.
- Managing Information Technology
- The module’s primary aim is to broaden student’s knowledge and skills in the use of IT in managing and analysing data for business to improve the quality of decision-making in a dynamic environment.
- Business Communications
- Main focal point of this area of study is the manager’s role of effective usage of the Information and Communication methods of “talking to textual messages”. Also, students are being taught how to organize meetings out of which everyone will give their maximum.
- Statistics in Business
- This module develops students’ capability to handle the numerical and quantitative issues that arise in the business. The students will be able to use statistical, graphical and algebraic techniques in order to approach to the business problems with adequate IT software, wherever it is relevant. Precise assessment of numerical results, with or without usage of IT, will enable efficient business decisions.
- Business Management
- This module is concerned with the management of your own skills and your development, in order to reach the goals for your own personal advancement and promotion. The development of effective labor relations that enable the business people to handle different situations, including the conflict ones, is also a prime area of study in this module.
- Business Accounting
- This area of study covers the planning, the management and the analysis of the usage of physical and financial resources in the relevant business activity. The supply of up-to-date information to the decision makers, in order to have easier and more efficient resource planning, is also important issue within this module.
Second Year
- Strategic Management
- The syllabus is related to the allocation and the assessment of the individual and the team performance in relation to the achievement of the previously set organizational goals. The management of remote workers, as well as discussion of issues that arise from the job performance of certain team in an organization, is also included within this module.
- Managerial Accounting
- From this module, the students will gain knowledge of how to manage finances in a business environment. The management with the turnover capital in the business, as well as the budgetary control and the cost techniques are also focal points of this module. Also included are some statistical techniques, which are put in function of the financial analysis.
- Human Resources Management
- This module is related to the identification, planning, implementation, realization, assessment and receiving feedback for the development of the team/individual, in order to have continuous improvement in the overall work performance. .
- Marketing
- This module is concerned with the managers’ need to put the customer in the focus of the attention, to identify investors’ demands, as well as the planning of how to adjust those needs with the organizational limitations. The e-commerce and it’s implications on the management process is also an important part of the syllabus of this module.
- Business Law
- The students are taught how the EU membership influenced the economic policy of the Government of the UK, the trade between the EU member states and the trading possibilities of the UK enterprises in the EU, as well as the ways his can be assessed.
- Financial Management
- Preparation of financial analysis for different types of business enterprises, and the making of adequate adjustments of those analyses, is one of the areas that this module covers. Students are also taught about the detailed legal and regulatory provisions that refer to the financial auditing, as well as the ways the relevant accounting principles can be implemented. The basic principles of preparation of group auditing reports are also included in the syllabus. After finishing this module, students are ready to prepare financial reports for different business enterprises.
Third Year
- Corporate Strategy
- The development of the students capability to evaluate the process of strategy and its implementation within the organization is an area of prime concern of this module. The evaluation of the external environment and the need for adoption of organizational strategies for the purpose of ensuring effective business performance is also a part of the module syllabus.
- Management and Organizational Theory
- This module is about the identification and the presentation of the need for recruitment/selection in a certain business area. Taking a leadership role in the process of selecting the right person for a certain job position is also an area of study within this module.
- Marketing Planning
- This module consolidates the previous knowledge and understanding of the marketing process, and enables the students to select, analyze, implement and evaluate models and theories of marketing planning. The students are also supposed to gain expertise in the assessment of the organization's strength to develop and launch new product in a competitive environment, as well as knowledge about preparation and presentation of credible marketing plan.
- Advertising and Promotion
- The main purpose of the syllabus of this module is the students to gain understanding of the key areas of advertising and promotion, as well as development of students' capability to select and implement certain communication tools within strategic and tactical framework. This is wide area of study which covers theoretical concepts, as well as the practical aspects of the promotion itself. The module also gives a solid ground for a career choice in this area, as well as further studying and gaining of professional qualifications.
- Networks
- The importance of networks in the world of business is dramatically increasing every year. The significantly sophisticated technologies and the expansion of the consumer base is implying the ever increasing importance of the basic understanding of the network solutions. The purpose of the syllabus is to ensure a precise introduction in the networks, as well as a practical experience in the installation of users and software in the network.
- Market Research
- In the module's syllabus, students are taught about the different types of information needed for planning and monitoring of the competitive environment. The students will also examine and implement the information sources identifying techniques that are being used in the marketing area, as well as the trends of customer demands and the wider competitive environment. This area of study also gives the students an opportunity to improve their capabilities, expertise and understanding of the concepts of marketing research.
- Software Tools
- The module syllabus covers the array of problems that arise during the usage of computers, as well as the ways these problems can be resolved and the techniques that can be used for this. The 3rd generation of programming languages, the tables, databases or the knowledge-based expert systems, is also an important area of study covered by this module.
- Financial Systems
- This area of study covers the structure of the financial systems in the organization as well as the reporting about these systems. Students will learn the way the manual and the computerized accounting systems function, as well as the ways these systems are being controlled and protected. The concept, techniques and the principles of the financial revision constitute a core area of study within the syllabus of this module.
- Cost Analysis and Reporting
- Students learn how to manage with the finances in a business environment. The management of the turnover capital, the budgetary control and the cost techniques, as well as some statistical analysis as part of the overall financial analysis, are also covered by this module.
- Financial Reporting
- Preparation of financial statements for different types of business enterprises, and the appropriate adjustments of those statements, that's what this module teaches our students, among other issues. This module also gives an insight about the detailed legal and regulatory provisions that refer to the financial reports, as well as the ways of implementation of the relevant accounting principles, and the basic principles of preparation of group reports.
